• Enrollments are open for summer 2021 lessons | 15.05.2021

From today you can enroll to our summer courses. To give continuity, the Music School offers customizable packages for the summer period. The dates of these lessons can be agreed directly with your selected teacher. Families can freely choose the time spots, the duration and the number of lessons included in the package. These optional summer lessons serve primarily to minimize the inevitable loss of knowledge already acquired, to study a specific problem more profoundly, for which there is never enough time during the school year or simply to enjoy yourself by learning your favorite songs. For beginners these summer lessons can be helpful and useful to have an initial experience with the selected instrument, before starting an annual contract in September after the summer. • Sad News | 08.01.2021

I received a very sad news today. Our dear Arnaldo was recovering well in the hospital, but at the end he didn't make it...
I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act,
​thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories.
His life was far too short, but it made a big impact on the world. I’ll always remember him.

Good-bye Arnaldo! Rock with the angels in heaven! Rest in peace.

• Latest News | Coronavirus & Online Lessons | 10.11.2020

According to our experience we acquired during the first COVID-19 lock-down, the students (age between 4 and 60), continued without any problems their instrumental music lessons online. We don't know yet if there will be any further limitations, the current COVID situation changes day by day, but there are basically 2 scenarios, that can happen: 
   •  Schools will remain open and you or your child can proceed with the individual instrumental music course at your home or at one of our sections which can still be open.
   •  Schools will close, and children will study online. In this case, being able to start now with live lessons, while it's still possible, will give you an advantage to learn the basics,
       before proceeding with the online mode after the lock-down.

So, if you're interested in instrumental music lessons, you can choose freely from the following 2 solutions:
   •  Proceeding with live lessons now, as long as schools are open, and in case of a second lock-down, you or your child can continue the lessons online.
   •  If you are afraid of the virus and would like to minimize the physical contacts, you can start online lessons immediately without the need of live physical contacts.
If you are sceptic about the efficiency of online instrumental music lessons, you can book a free trial lesson and decide after.

• New School Year 2020-2021! | 31.08.2020

The new school year is about to begin. In the shadow of the global coronavirus crisis, we are launching our music courses for the new school year 2020-2021. We are positive, we hope the schools will remain open, but we are also prepared to proceed with online lessons in case of another lock-down. With the team of our teachers we are prepared to face a new adventure, as always, every school year brings exiting experiences to all of us. Be prepared and learn more about our live online courses. 

• Worldwide Music Education | 20.05.2020

We are proud to announce, that our online music courses will be available worldwide for the interested international students from all over the world. Since internet has no boundaries, no borders, why should we?
​Language:
The primary language of the international online lessons is English, but other languages are also available. To check the current language selection, visit the “Teachers” page to read the profile of the teachers. New languages will be added from time to time, according to the requests, that we will receive from our visitors.

• Coronavirus Update | 02.03.2020 

For all our clients who live in the Lugano area - Ticino, Switzerland and are enrolled to our courses but can't attend now the lessons personally because of this new global crisis, their lessons will be converted to online lessons. For more information, please contact the administration of the music school and your teacher. The online lessons held so far, worked out very well, even with inexperienced clients and smaller children.
Let's be positive, we shall not allow this crisis to undermine the education of our children! Together we will combat the Covid-19 crisis. 
Let's remember the unquestionable advantages of online music education:
   •   Safe, comfortable environment for both students and teachers - at HOME!
   •   More flexible time spots for the lessons, rescheduling and for making up the lessons,
   •   No extra purchases required: most families already have everything needed for a basic setup,

• NEW! Online Music Lessons! | 01.03.2020

We've launched our online music education services. You can study how to play on your favorite instrument comfortably and securely from your home as well. Also our website has been updated, more information can be found under the "Online Courses" menu. Our teachers have created their home station to continue the lessons with the students. All you need is a device connected to the internet and an application to make video calls. In our Online Courses menu you can check the list of the currently offered music instruments and the availability of our teachers. You will also find a link where you can calculate the time zone differences if you live in another country.

• Congratulations! | 03.02.2020

The Music School would like to congratulate and to thank to all families for their effort and the participation at the student concerts! If you made photos or videos of the performances of your children during the concert, which could be posted here, please let us know. We'd be glad if you decide to share with us those unforgettable moments!

• First ever Music School concert at IST! | 30.01.2020

We'd like to thank to the INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF TICINO for this great opportunity, to organize our first student concert in their school. Big thanks also to Mr. Andrew Ackers for his help in organizing this event! For most children it was the first time to perform in front of an audience. The event was well received by the parents and most of them confirmed, that they will participate at the end of the school year concert of the Music School as well.

• Date Change! | 19.01.2020

• Save the Date! Student Concerts | 03.09.2019

If you like to plan everything in advance to organize your family logistics, here are the dates of our student concerts of this school year:
1.) End of 1st semester concert: 26 January 2020, Sunday.
2.) End of 2nd semester concert: 07 June 2020, Sunday.

The new school year is about to begin. With the team of our teachers we are prepared to face a new adventure, as always, every school year brings exiting experiences to all of us. New IST Campus Announced | 01.04.2019

We are pleased to communicate with all our IST clients, that as you probably know, it's been officially announced, from the new school year IST will move to the new, big modern building, which will bring benefits and improvements also for our music courses, including a beautiful theater, more music rooms, more instruments and more courses to choose from!

Students Concert | 27.01.2019

As usual, we've organized our student concert at the end of the 1st semester. 

New Building in Stabio | 14.12.2018

Today we had a successful meeting with Mr. Roberto Della Casa, leader of the Stabio Scout "San Rocco". After a pleasant discussion about the possibilities, we've established the conditions and signed the contract. From now we have officially a music room in Stabio, close to the city center and the main square. Now we can start to grow, offering more music instruments to the children to choose from. Also, all other music students of Stabio who had to travel until now all the way to Mendrisio, now may consider a more confortable and time saving option.

Dr. Lee Bartel explores how sound can stimulate cells in your body and brain to reduce the impact of Fibromyalgia pain, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Depression, and even increase blood flow. It shows how a common consumer vibroacoustic device is used to treat these health conditions. Lee Bartel is Professor Emeritus of Music and Health and Music Education and at the University of Toronto and Member of the Board and Chair of the Research and Education Committee for the Artists’ Health Alliance. He served as Faculty of Music Associate Dean of Research, and was the Founding Director of the Music and Health Research Collaboratory (MaHRC) at University of Toronto from 2011 - 2015.

From perception to pleasure: Music changes the brain

In 2005 he was named holder of a James McGill chair in Neuroscience. In 2006 he became the founding co-director of the international laboratory for Brain, Music, and Sound research (BRAMS), a unique multi-university consortium with state-of-the art facilities dedicated to the cognitive neuroscience of music. In 2011 he was awarded the IPSEN foundation prize in neuronal plasticity, in 2013 he won the Knowles prize in hearing research from Northwestern University, and in 2017 was named a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He lives in Montreal with his wife and collaborator Virginia Penhune, professor of psychology at Concordia University. He tries to keep up his baroque repertoire on the organ whenever he can get a chance.
